About Journey Up
Journey Up is a home care agency in Hatfield, supporting people in their own homes across Hertfordshire. We work with younger adults and older people, with people living with mental health needs and with people affected by an eating disorder. Support at home for mental health is a different job from personal care, and we treat it as such. It is often about structure rather than tasks: being there in the morning when getting up feels impossible, keeping appointments from slipping, helping somebody re establish a routine after a spell in hospital, and being a steady presence through the stretch where recovery stalls. Progress is rarely linear and we do not treat a difficult fortnight as a failure. With eating disorders we work carefully and always alongside the specialist teams involved. Mealtimes can be the hardest part of someone's day, and support at those moments needs to be patient, consistent and free of judgement or bargaining. We follow the clinical plan rather than improvising around food, and we keep the focus on the person rather than the numbers. Across all of it, we try to be the sort of support that does not take over. Our aim is for people to need us less over time where that is realistic, and to be reliable for as long as they need us. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are happy to talk in detail about how we work before anyone commits.

More about the care at Journey Up
Home Care at Journey Up
Support bought by the hour can be built up or scaled back, which suits needs that change from month to month. Journey Up is registered as a home care agency covering Hertfordshire from a base in Hatfield, with packages from a single call to several visits a day. Rates across the East of England commonly run £28 to £33 an hour, with short calls, waking nights and bank holidays usually priced on a different basis. Ask the minimum visit length, how cover is arranged in a worker's absence and how visits are recorded. Ask whether Hertfordshire might fund part of the cost after an assessment. With no inspection rating issued, policies, references and a clear written agreement are the evidence available.
Older Person Care at Journey Up
Getting up can be the hardest part of an older person's day, and a visit timed for that moment changes everything after it. Journey Up in Hatfield is registered for older person care and supports people at home with washing and dressing, medication, meals and company. Ask what time the first call of the morning can realistically be, and how closely the agency holds to it. Ask how long visits last, who covers weekends and evenings, and what happens when a worker is unwell. Ask whether the same small team attends, since recognising a decline depends on familiarity. No overall rating has been published yet, so references and a sample plan are what to weigh. Rates in the East usually fall between £28 and £33 an hour.
Mental Health at Journey Up
Structure rather than tasks is often what mental health support at home consists of: appointments kept, a routine rebuilt after hospital, somebody there when the morning feels impossible. Journey Up is registered for mental health and treats a difficult fortnight as expected rather than as failure. Ask what training workers have, how hours flex when things deteriorate and who can be reached out of hours.
Younger Adults at Journey Up
The aim with a younger adult should be needing the service less over time, not more. Journey Up is registered for younger adults, with support meant to fit round work, study or a tenancy rather than replace them. Ask how the plan is reviewed, how quickly times can change and how progress is measured.
Eating Disorders at Journey Up
Mealtimes can be the hardest part of a day, and support at those moments has to be patient, consistent and free of bargaining. Journey Up is registered for eating disorders and works to the clinical plan rather than improvising around food. Ask which specialist team is involved, how the plan is shared with workers, and who is contacted when someone's presentation changes.
