We work with older people who want to carry on living independently at home, and with younger adults who need support to manage daily life. We keep our focus deliberately narrow so that we can do it properly. A visit may involve help to wash and dress, support with medication, preparing meals, assistance with mobility and moving safely about the home, light household tasks and shopping, or company for someone who would otherwise see nobody from one day to the next. Some clients want a single short call each morning and others need support several times over. Support is agreed with the person first. We ask what time they like to get up, what they want to eat, what they want help with and what they would rather do for themselves, and we involve family as far as the person wishes. The plan goes in writing and is reviewed when circumstances change rather than left to drift. We try hard to keep the same carers calling on the same people, because reliability and a familiar face are what make care at home work. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We are registered with and regulated by them, and we are building the care planning, training and oversight that a good rating properly requires.
