About Focus Learning
Focus Learning provides support to adults in their own homes in Haringey and the surrounding area. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, and people with physical disabilities. Our work rests on the idea that it is the person's home and the person's life, and that our role is to make that workable while leaving as much as possible in their hands. That means help with personal care and medicines where it is needed, and a good deal of time spent on the skills and routines independent living asks for: cooking, shopping, managing money, keeping on top of letters and appointments, using transport, and dealing with what goes wrong in any household. It also means support to see family and friends and to get to work, college, groups or activities. We have to be straightforward about our inspection position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We accepted the findings rather than disputing them, and we have concentrated on what was criticised: our records, our medicines practice, how we check the quality of the support we provide, and how well prepared our staff are before they begin working with somebody. That work is not finished. If you are considering us, ask directly what has changed and what has not, and we will tell you honestly.
