We are Light Care in Hampshire, supporting people across Havant and the surrounding area in their own homes. Most people manage better in familiar surroundings, and our job is to make staying at home practical for as long as it sensibly can be. We support older people who need help with the ordinary things that have become harder, washing and dressing, medication, preparing meals, shopping and getting out of the house. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar carer and an unhurried approach achieve far more than a detailed plan handed to somebody new. We also work with people living with a physical disability, where good support is largely about making daily life workable again, and with younger adults, whose priorities are often quite different from what people expect of home care. We try to send the same carers to the same people. It means our team notice quickly when somebody is unsteady, eating less or simply not themselves. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather say so plainly. Until we do, judge us on whether we arrive when we said and whether we are easy to reach.
