We are careful not to do things for people that they would rather do themselves. Independence is easy to erode with well meant help, and once somebody has stopped doing something it is hard to start again, so we work alongside people rather than taking over. Support is agreed with the person and anyone they want involved, written in plain language and reviewed honestly as needs change. We keep the same carers going to the same households wherever we can, because familiar faces notice the small changes that matter.
