About SM Voice Advocacy
We provide support and advocacy at home in Basingstoke and the surrounding area. The people we work with include older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. A good deal of what we do is practical: help with washing and dressing, support with medication, meals, shopping and keeping a household going, and assistance to get out to appointments. Alongside that, part of our work is making sure a person is heard. People are often spoken about rather than spoken to, particularly when they communicate differently or when a lot of professionals are involved, and we try to put that right by asking the person first and taking their answer seriously. We keep staffing as consistent as we can, because somebody who knows a person well is far better placed to notice when they are unwell or unhappy, and because trust takes time to build. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly. If you are looking for support of this kind, please get in touch and we will be honest about what we can offer.
