We are a home care provider based in Aldershot, supporting people in their own homes across this part of Hampshire. Our work is with older people, with autistic adults and adults who have a learning disability, with people managing mental health conditions, with people who have a physical disability and with younger adults. What those people have in common is that they would rather stay where they are than move somewhere else, and our job is to make that a realistic choice rather than a hopeful one. What that looks like varies enormously. For one person it is half an hour in the morning so the day starts properly. For another it is several visits covering personal care, medication and meals. For a younger adult it is often less about tasks and more about being present for the parts of a week that are hard while keeping out of the way of the parts that are not. We spend real time on the first conversation, because what makes home care work is small, specific and never written on a referral form. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we would encourage anyone considering us to ask us direct questions.
