For another it is support with medication, meals, shopping and laundry, help getting to appointments, or longer visits that let a family carer rest properly. For a younger adult it is often the practical support that makes work, study, friendships and independence possible. Wherever we can we send the same small group of carers to the same people, because trust is built at the door and not on paper. Our carers are asked to look beyond the task in front of them, so if somebody is eating less, sleeping badly, becoming low or seeming unsteady on their feet, we want to know and we will raise it with the family and with health professionals where that is right. The Care Quality Commission has not yet published an overall rating for us. Until it does, we are content to be judged on how we answer your questions, on the plan we put in writing and on what the people we already support say about us.
