About Care at Home
We provide care at home in Gloucester and across Gloucestershire. The people we support include older adults, people living with dementia, autistic adults and people with learning disabilities, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. We plan each person's support individually, because that list describes lives with almost nothing in common beyond needing a hand. Helping an older person manage safely at home and helping a young autistic adult run their own flat are different jobs requiring different carers, and a service that pretends otherwise does neither well. Practical help is the bulk of our work: washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, keeping a household in order. The rest is harder to write into a plan. Noticing that somebody is not themselves. Staying the last ten minutes rather than leaving early. Telling the office when something has changed. That depends on the carer paying attention, which is why we are careful about who we take on and how we supervise them. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather say so than leave the matter vague. Families are welcome to ask us how we recruit, train and check our staff, and to meet the carers who would be visiting before anything starts.
