About Domiciliary Care Branch

We are a domiciliary care team based in Coleford, supporting people in their own homes across the Forest of Dean and this part of Gloucestershire. Rural home care has its own character. Distances are real, lanes are narrow, and in winter some of the houses we visit are genuinely hard to reach. We plan rounds around that rather than pretending otherwise, because a visit promised and not delivered is worse than one honestly scheduled for later. The people we support are mainly older adults, many of them living with dementia. We also visit younger adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. A fair number of the people we see live some way from their nearest neighbour, which means our visit may be the only knock on the door that day. We treat that as part of the job rather than as a nicety. The practical work is washing and dressing, medicines, meals, shopping, housework, appointments and company. We try hard to keep the same workers going to the same households, which matters even more where somebody is isolated. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are arranging care for yourself or a relative, ring us and we will come out and talk it through.
