About Seco Support (North East)
We are a home care agency working across Newcastle Upon Tyne and Gateshead, and we support a genuinely broad range of people in their own homes. On any given day our carers might be helping an older person manage their morning, supporting an autistic adult through a change in routine, assisting someone with a physical disability to get out and about, or sitting with a person whose mental health has made an ordinary week feel unmanageable. That breadth shapes how we work. There is no single way to support people this different, so we do not pretend to have one. We ask first, at length, and we listen to what the person says they want rather than what the referral says they need. For people with a visual or hearing impairment that often means rethinking how we communicate before we do anything else, and getting that right early saves a great deal of frustration later. We support younger adults as well as older ones, and we try to keep our language and our approach appropriate to each. A young adult wanting help to live independently is not a patient, and we do not treat them as one. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are glad of it, though the rating we care about most is whether the person we visited this morning felt properly looked after. We ask them, and we act on what we hear.
