About Pendennis House
Pendennis House provides support to adults in their own homes in Wadebridge and the surrounding part of Cornwall. We work with people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, and people managing mental health conditions. Our work happens in people's own homes and on their terms. A visit might cover help with washing and dressing, medicines, cooking a meal and seeing that it is eaten, laundry and tidying, shopping, or support to get out to appointments, groups, work or simply to see people. How much of that is wanted, and when, is for the person to decide rather than for us to prescribe. We plan the support with the person, in their own words, and we keep the visiting team small so that faces stay familiar. For anybody living with dementia that continuity does most of the work, because an unexpected face at the door can unsettle an entire morning. Where somebody communicates in their own way, we learn how they do it rather than expecting them to adapt to us. For people with mental health needs, steadiness matters and so does noticing early when somebody seems less well. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we support whether we are getting things right.
