About Home Instead Mid
We are the Home Instead office covering mid Cornwall, based in St Austell, and we provide care to people in their own homes. Most of our work is with older people and a great deal of it is with people living with dementia. We also support autistic adults and adults with a learning disability, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. What we try to avoid is the rushed visit that leaves nobody satisfied. Care takes the time it takes, and the parts that matter most are often the ones that cannot be timed, such as noticing that somebody has eaten nothing since yesterday or staying for the conversation that will be their only one that day. We put real effort into matching carers to the people they visit, thinking about temperament and shared interests as well as skills, and then we keep that pairing steady. For someone living with dementia that familiarity is not a nicety, it is what stops a day unravelling. We work alongside families, general practitioners and community teams, and we say so plainly when needs have outgrown what home care can safely do. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding.
