About Glassmoon Services
Glassmoon supports adults in their own homes and in supported living across Cornwall, working from our base in Saltash. We work with younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. Our work is built around the idea that people should be running their own lives with support behind them rather than having their lives run for them. So we start with what somebody wants their week to look like, what they want to do for themselves and what they genuinely need help with, and we plan from there. Where a decision is difficult, our job is to help somebody make it rather than to make it on their behalf. A good deal of our effort goes into how people communicate. Where somebody uses signs, symbols, a communication aid or a personal set of gestures, we learn it, write it down and make sure every member of staff works the same way. We also put weight on consistency of staffing. Complex support only works when the people delivering it know the person well, so we keep teams small and we listen when somebody tells us a particular match is not right.
