About Havencare
We provide support at home across Cornwall for adults with learning disabilities, autistic people and people living with mental health conditions, including younger adults. Our work is about helping people live in their own homes and run their own lives as far as they are able to. In practice that means the unglamorous things that make independence real: managing a tenancy, dealing with letters and bills, handling money, shopping and cooking, keeping appointments, getting to work, college or wherever a person wants to spend their time, and having staff alongside when something feels beyond facing alone. We start by asking what somebody wants their life to look like rather than arriving with a plan already written. Progress is often gradual, and the gains that count are frequently small ones that nobody outside the household would notice. Consistency of staff counts for a great deal, particularly for autistic people and for anyone whose mental health is unsettled, so we keep our teams as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. Working across a largely rural county means being honest about what we can reliably cover rather than promising more than we can keep to. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
