About Continuum Care
Continuum Care supports people in their own homes around Penryn and across this part of Cornwall. Our work is with older adults, many of them living with dementia, with people who have a learning disability, with autistic people, with people who have a physical disability, and with people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. We also support people whose difficulties involve alcohol or drugs, which a good many agencies quietly decline. That last point is worth saying out loud rather than hiding in a list. Supporting somebody alongside a drink or drug problem asks for steadiness instead of disapproval, a willingness to come back after a week that went badly, and the judgement to know when a situation needs somebody with different training. We recruit and supervise with that in view, and we are honest about what we cannot do. Cornwall is a rural county with real distances in it, so we plan rounds honestly rather than promising times we cannot keep. The practical work covers washing and dressing, medicines, meals, shopping, housework, appointments, getting out of the house, and someone keeping a quiet eye on how a person is doing. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us and we will come to the house and talk it through.
