About SOS Homecare
SOS Homecare supports adults in their own homes across Crewe and the surrounding parts of Cheshire. The people we visit are a varied group. Older people and those living with dementia make up much of our work, and we also support adults with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental health needs, adults with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Because of that spread, we plan around individuals. What we want to know at the start is how a person's day works now, what they still manage themselves, what has become difficult, and what they would rather we did not touch in their own home. A plan that could apply to anybody is not much help to anyone. Consistency is the thing we work hardest at. Support is a relationship as much as a set of tasks, and someone who sees a different carer every week has to start from the beginning each time. For people living with dementia that is not just inconvenient, it is genuinely unsettling. We are also straightforward about limits. When we think home care is no longer enough, we say so rather than letting a situation drift. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good.
