About Council Shared Lives Services
We are the Shared Lives scheme run by Cheshire East Council, based in Crewe and working across the borough. Shared Lives is different from most of what sits under the heading of home care. Rather than sending carers into somebody's house, we match a person with an approved Shared Lives carer who shares their own home and family life with them. Some arrangements are long term and become somebody's home for years. Others are short breaks, day support, or a stepping stone towards living more independently. We support older people and people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The matching is the heart of it, and we take our time over it. Shared interests, household routines, pace of life and simple personal chemistry all matter, because what we are arranging is not a service so much as a relationship. Our carers are recruited, trained, checked and supported by us throughout, and we stay closely involved once an arrangement begins. We work with social workers, health colleagues and families. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to find out more.
