About Helping Hands
Helping Hands Aylesbury provides care at home to adults in Aylesbury and across Buckinghamshire. We visit older people who need help to carry on living in their own houses, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults who need support to live independently. Supporting that range means there is no standard package. What an older person needs first thing in the morning has very little in common with what an autistic adult running their own household wants from us, and we plan and staff accordingly. The practical work covers personal care, support and prompting with medication, meals, household tasks, shopping and help to get out to appointments or into town. Alongside it sits the part that appears on no schedule, which is noticing. A carer who knows somebody well can tell when they are eating less, sleeping badly or seeming more confused, and raising it early is often what keeps a person out of hospital. We aim to send the same small group of carers to each person and to arrive when we said we would, because that reliability is most of what makes home care work. If you are looking into support at home locally, please get in touch and we will talk about what would help.
