About Constant Supported Living

Constant Supported Living is a home care agency in Bristol, supporting people in their own homes across the city. We work with older people and younger adults, including people living with a physical disability. Supported living means the home belongs to the person and we are there by arrangement. That changes the dynamic for the better, and we try to behave accordingly. We begin with what somebody wants their week to look like, and only then work out honestly what help is needed to make it happen. For many of the people we support that means a tenancy of their own, control over their own money and food, and the ordinary freedoms any adult expects. Behind that sits practical help: personal care given without ceremony, medication managed and recorded properly, cooking, shopping, health appointments, travel, and the officialdom that defeats most people. Where somebody has a physical disability, we take real care over how we assist with moving and transfers, because the right approach is specific to the individual and getting it wrong is painful. We aim to do as little as necessary. Support that takes over is easier to provide and much worse for the person, so we measure ourselves partly by what people have stopped needing us for. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are glad to explain how we recruit, train and supervise, and to introduce you to whoever would be supporting you.
