About Mkoko HealthCare
We provide care at home around Bristol and Bath, supporting older adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. How long a visit lasts is something we think about carefully. A quarter of an hour is enough to complete a task and nowhere near enough to do it properly with somebody who is stiff, sore or slow first thing. So we would rather agree fewer and longer calls than fill a rota with short ones that look efficient and feel like being processed. We also pay attention to the gap between our visits, since that is most of somebody's day. Are the tablets reachable. Is there food they can manage alone. Has anybody rung. Those are what tell you whether a person is coping or quietly struggling, and our carers are asked to notice and to say so. Where sight or hearing has gone we agree how we will announce ourselves and every carer uses the same approach. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we prefer to state that plainly. Ask us anything about how we recruit, train and check our carers.
