About Abihealth – Southwest

Abihealth provides care and support to people in their own homes across Bristol and the surrounding part of the South West. We work with older people, with younger adults and with adults who have a learning disability or are autistic. The point of the support we give is to help people live the life they want in their own home with the help they need and nothing beyond that. We start by asking what somebody wants to be able to do rather than listing what they struggle with, and we plan from there. In practice that may mean help with personal care, prompting and support with medication, cooking, shopping, laundry and keeping the home in order, support with money and paperwork, or help to get out to work, college, appointments and activities. For many of the people we support, a good deal of the value lies in having somebody reliable alongside them while skills and confidence grow. Support is agreed with the person, written in plain language and reviewed honestly. Where somebody becomes more independent, we step back rather than carrying on out of habit. Our staff are trained for the needs they support and we keep teams consistent wherever we can. If you would like to discuss support at home in this area, please contact us.
