About Glenthorne House
Glenthorne House is a residential care home in Bilston. We support older people needing help with daily living, including those living with dementia, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people working through problems with alcohol or drugs. We also support some younger adults. Our care is practical and personal: help to wash and dress, medication given properly, meals cooked here, support to move about safely and staff available at night. What we try hardest to get right is the manner of it, because being helped with intimate things should feel unhurried and ordinary rather than clinical. For residents living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the faces familiar. For the autistic people we support, notice of change and attention to noise and busyness in shared areas make the greatest difference. For people in recovery, consistency and an absence of judgement matter more than any particular approach. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, which can give a family carer a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families around Wolverhampton are welcome to visit. Please ring and we will arrange a time.
