About Hartland House

Hartland House is a residential care home in Milnthorpe. We look after older people who have found that living alone has become more of a struggle than a pleasure, and our job is to take the struggle out of it without taking away anybody's independence. A good deal of our work is with people living with dementia. What helps most in dementia care is rarely complicated. It is consistency, patience, familiar faces, meals at the times someone expects them, and enough time in the day that nobody is hurried. We build the house around that, and we would rather adapt our routine to a person than expect the person to adapt to ours. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a proper rest or support someone through a period of recovery after illness or a stay in hospital. Short stay guests are part of the household while they are here, not visitors waiting in a spare room. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We were pleased with it, though the measure we care about more is whether someone seems settled and content after a few weeks with us. If you are looking for a home for yourself or someone close to you, please come and see us. Call in on an ordinary day, meet the people who live here, and ask us anything you want to know.
