About Gilling Reane Care Home
Gilling Reane Care Home is a residential care home in Kendal, in Westmorland and Furness. We look after older people who need help through the day, including many living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Kendal is a Lakeland market town and we belong to it rather than sit apart from it. Staff are mostly local and tend to stay a long while, which does more for the people living here than any amount of decoration. Relatives are generally close enough to drop in without making a journey of it, and the fells are close enough that a decent afternoon is worth getting people out for. The care itself is steady rather than striking. Washing and dressing in a way that leaves somebody feeling like themselves. Medicines on time. Meals that are hot and actually wanted. Help to move about the building and the garden safely. For residents with dementia we keep routines consistent and the surroundings familiar. Where a physical disability is involved the work is often about equipment, patience and allowing time. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visit without an appointment if you would rather. We would honestly prefer it.
