About Pelham House Residential Care Home with Dementia
Pelham House is a residential care home in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and much of our work is with people living with dementia. We are a permanent home to older people, and we also offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. Where dementia is part of the picture it shapes the whole house rather than one wing of it. We keep the day recognisable, keep familiar staff around people, let residents hold on to their own belongings and habits, and stay with somebody who is upset rather than trying to talk them out of it. Alongside that, we help with the things that have become difficult: getting washed and dressed, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, and eating and drinking well. We want to be honest with you about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out plainly than have you find it elsewhere. We know what the inspectors raised with us, we are working through it, and we will discuss any part of it openly with families and professionals who ask. Please come and visit, at a mealtime if you can, and ask us the difficult questions.
