Safe
Inspectors found that incidents and accidents were recorded and reviewed. Risk assessments gave staff advice on how to manage risks. Staff were trained in safeguarding, there were enough staff, and medicines were managed, stored, given and disposed of safely.
Effective
Inspectors found that staff had training relevant to people's needs and attended regular supervision and team meetings. Staff understood the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the right Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards applications had been made. People had enough to eat and drink and were offered a choice of food and drinks through the day.
Caring
Inspectors found that staff knew people well and treated them with dignity and respect. Staff acknowledged people's privacy and had built positive working relationships with them.
Responsive
Inspectors found that a range of activities met people's interests and supported their hobbies. Complaints were listened to and managed in line with the provider's policy.
Well-led
At the previous inspection on 17 February 2017, inspectors found that systems to check and improve quality and safety were not effective. This included no system for auditing care plans. On 3 July 2018, inspectors found the provider had followed their action plan and made significant improvements, and that robust management systems were now in place. Staff said the registered manager was very supportive.
What people told the inspectors
People told inspectors they felt safe at the home and were treated with dignity and respect. Relatives spoke positively about the staff and the care their family members received. They said they were involved in developing the service through meetings and annual surveys.
