About Spinney Hill House
Spinney Hill House is a residential care home in Northampton supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and adults living with mental health needs, a physical disability or sight and hearing loss, including younger adults. The people who live here have very different lives and very different ambitions, so we do not run the house to a single timetable. We support people to get up when they choose, eat what they like, keep in touch with family and friends, get out to college, work, clubs and appointments, and take the everyday risks that any adult is entitled to take. Support with personal care, medication and health appointments is part of what we do, but it is not the point of the place. The point is that this is home. Communication matters more than anything else here. We learn how each person expresses a preference, a worry or a refusal, whether in words, signs, pictures or behaviour, and we act on what they tell us. Respite stays are available too, giving families a break and giving the person staying a change of scene and a bit more independence. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were pleased and, honestly, rather proud, but the rating belongs to the people who live here as much as to the staff, and we know it has to be earned again every day.
