About ResCare
We are ResCare, a residential care home in Northampton. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with sight or hearing loss, and we also offer respite stays. We want this to be a home where people keep hold of their own lives. Everybody has their own room and their own routine, chooses how they spend the day, and is supported to keep up with family, friends and the things they were doing before they came to us. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, we work out the steps with them rather than deciding what is realistic on their behalf. Communication is central to that. Not everyone we support uses speech, and sight or hearing loss can make it harder still, so we take time to learn how each person expresses choice, discomfort and enjoyment, and we make sure new staff learn it before they support anyone alone. We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have accepted the findings, discussed them properly with our staff team, the people who live here and their families, and we are working through them methodically rather than looking for quick reassurance. If you are considering a placement in Northampton, please come and visit, meet the people who live here and ask us directly what has changed.
