About Place Care Home
Alton Place Care Home is a residential home in Alton. We provide care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We try to run this as a home rather than an institution. Residents bring their own things, keep their own routines and make their own decisions about the shape of the day, and our job is to give the right amount of help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility without taking over what somebody can still manage for themselves. Dementia care is a substantial part of our work. We spend time learning about each person's life, their habits and the things that settle them, because that is what allows staff to respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply to the behaviour. Where a resident has a physical disability we make sure equipment is properly set up and that staff use it confidently, and where there is a sight or hearing impairment we adapt how we communicate and keep things arranged as the person expects to find them. Respite stays are planned with the same attention as any other admission, whether they give a family carer a proper break or support somebody after a spell in hospital. You are very welcome to visit Alton Place and see the home on an ordinary day.
