About SignHealth Bowfell Road
We are a residential care home on Bowfell Road in the Trafford area of Manchester, part of SignHealth, supporting Deaf adults and people with hearing loss. The people living here include older people and younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism and people managing mental health conditions. Respite stays are available. What makes this home different is that communication is not an add on here. Being understood in your own language, by staff who use it fluently, changes everything about daily life, and it is the reason many of the people living with us came. For Deaf people, care settings where nobody signs can be isolating in a way that is hard to convey, and we exist so that nobody has to accept that. People have their own rooms, their own routines and a real say in how their days go. Support is about making ordinary things possible rather than doing them for people. Cooking, shopping, managing money and appointments, getting out into the local area, keeping in touch with family and friends. We are careful about the line between supporting somebody and taking over. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our practice around choice and privacy. If you are considering a place or a respite stay with us, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.
