About Kingarth
Kingarth is a residential care home in Bury, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people managing mental health conditions. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We treat this as where people live rather than where they have been placed. People arrange their own rooms, have a real say in the food and the shopping, and are involved in how the household runs. Where somebody can do a thing themselves, our job is to make that possible rather than to do it faster on their behalf, even when the quicker route is tempting on a busy morning. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a club, we treat that as the purpose of our support rather than an extra added on. It is usually what makes the rest of the week worth arranging. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and slightly cautious about it, because a rating describes a period rather than a permanent condition. What keeps it true is the same thing that earned it, which is asking the people who live here what would make this a better place to be, and then actually changing things.
