About Broadway
Broadway is a residential home in Trafford, Manchester, for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults. We offer planned respite stays as well as longer placements. We think of this as a house that people live in rather than a service they receive. Everyone here has their own routines, their own interests and their own opinions about how things should be done, and a good deal of our work is simply making sure those count for something. People are involved in choosing meals, planning the week and deciding how their own rooms look and feel. Support is built around each person rather than around the building. Some of the people who live here want a full and busy week out in Manchester and beyond, with college, work, clubs and time with family. Others prefer a quieter and more predictable rhythm, and that is an equally good way to live. For autistic people in particular we pay close attention to environment, noise, routine and giving warning of change, because those details make the difference between a day that works and one that does not. Respite stays are planned with the same care as any other placement, giving families a proper break while their relative spends time somewhere calm and well staffed. You are very welcome to come and look round Broadway before making any decision, and to take as long over it as you need.
