About Riviera Court

Riviera Court is a residential care home in Torquay supporting older people and adults living with mental health needs, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays. We plan around individuals, which is the only way a home with that mix of people can work well. What we want to know is how somebody's day should run, what they manage themselves, what they want help with and what they would rather we left alone. Everyone here has their own room, their own belongings and a genuine say in how the house is run. For residents living with mental health needs, our work is about stability and recovery rather than supervision. We pay attention to early signs that someone is becoming less well and act on them, and we work alongside community mental health teams rather than in parallel to them. The person is part of the conversation about their own care, not the subject of it. For younger adults we make sure the day contains something that belongs to them rather than expecting everybody to live the same afternoon. For our older residents the emphasis is on keeping the familiar shape of a life going. Respite guests are part of the household while they are with us. If you would like to see the home, please get in touch and we will arrange a visit at a time that suits you.
