About Choice Care Home

Choice Care Home is a residential home in Torquay. We support older people and younger adults, and we offer both permanent places and respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. The people who live here need a wide range of help. Many need support with personal care, mobility, medication and meals. A number are living with dementia, and for them we keep the day familiar, keep the same staff around and take the time that is needed rather than the time that is convenient. We support people living with mental ill health, working alongside community mental health colleagues so that what happens here fits with the rest of a person's care, people with physical disabilities, where equipment, seating and access decide how much independence somebody actually has, and people living with sight or hearing loss. We try to keep the house feeling like a home rather than an institution. Food is cooked on the premises and people are asked what they would like, there is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, the bay is close enough for a trip out, and visitors do not need an appointment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please arrange to visit and see for yourself.
