About Ridgemount
Ridgemount is a residential care home in Banstead, Surrey. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. We try to run this as a household rather than a facility. Residents get up when they wake rather than when a rota prefers, eat when they are hungry, and are allowed an afternoon with nothing arranged in it. We take real trouble over knowing people, their working life, their family, which chair is theirs, how they take their tea, because those details are how somebody stays a person here rather than becoming a resident. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out here than have a family come across it and wonder what else went unmentioned. We accept the findings and we are working through them. We are not going to promise in a paragraph that everything is resolved, because that would not be honest. What we would ask of anybody considering us is this: come without an appointment, see us on an ordinary afternoon, talk to residents and relatives away from staff, and press us on specifics about what has changed and what is still in hand. That will tell you far more than anything written here.
