About Fernlea
Fernlea is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We support older people who need help with daily living, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. We also support some younger adults. What we provide is the practical daily help that makes comfortable living possible: assistance to wash and dress, medication managed properly, meals cooked here, support to move safely about the house and staff available through the night. Beyond that, people organise their own days. Some want company from breakfast onwards, others prefer their own room, and we do not regard either as needing justification. Where somebody's sight or hearing is impaired, the details matter. Belongings stay where people expect them, we say who we are before we start and we check that we have been understood rather than assuming so. Where people need help to move, we take the time that doing it safely and comfortably actually requires. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, which can give a family carer a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families around Stoke on Trent are welcome to visit. Please ring and we will arrange a time.
