About Griffin Lodge
Griffin Lodge is a care home in Cheadle, Stockport, offering residential support for adults. Those living with us include younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. We also provide respite stays, which can give a family carer a real break. This is somebody's home first and we try to run it that way. People have their own rooms and their own routines, and they have a genuine say in how their days go. Support is planned with each person rather than imposed, and we are careful about the line between helping and taking over. For some of our residents the aim is to do more for themselves over time. For others it is to have steady support that does not keep changing. Both matter equally to us. Communication is something we work at. Not everybody here uses many words, and understanding somebody properly takes time, attention and a willingness to be corrected. We encourage people to use Cheadle and the wider area, to keep up with interests and to stay in touch with family and friends, so that the home is part of their life rather than the whole of it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep looking at the detail, particularly around choice and privacy. If you are considering a place or a respite stay, please visit and meet the people who live here.
