About The Mews
The Mews is a residential care home in Stafford, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults and people with physical disabilities. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we offer respite stays. This is where people live rather than where they have been placed, and that shows in ordinary decisions more than in anything we could claim. Rooms are arranged as people want them, the shopping list is genuinely shared, and the weekend belongs to whoever is living it. Where somebody can manage something themselves we support them to keep at it even when stepping in would be quicker. Convenience is how independence gets quietly lost. Communication comes first rather than last. Where a person communicates in a particular way we establish it properly at the start and everybody uses it consistently, because the rest of our work depends on it and it is the thing most often half done. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be asked hard questions now than have to explain ourselves later, so please ask them.
