About Rivers
Rivers is a residential care home in Taunton, Somerset, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, adults with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. This is a home for people who need support to live the life they want, not a place where life is arranged for them. The support we give is practical and personal at the same time. It can cover help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and keeping a home running, and it just as often covers the things that make a week worth having: seeing people, going out, keeping up an interest or learning to do something without help. We communicate in whatever way works best for each individual, and we expect our team to adapt rather than expecting the person to. Where somebody wants more independence, we plan support that quietly withdraws as their confidence grows. We support younger adults here, and we take care not to lump quite different people together simply because they share a diagnosis. Respite stays are also available, which give family carers a real break and let a prospective resident see how the household feels first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would encourage you to visit, spend a bit of time with us and judge the place on what you actually see.
