About The Light House
The Light House is a residential care home in Burnham On Sea, Somerset. We support adults who are living with a mental health condition or a physical disability, including older people and younger adults, and we offer respite stays for those who need support for a shorter period. We are a small home and we work at a human scale. People here know each other and know the staff, and daily life feels like a household rather than a service. Residents have their own rooms and a real say in how their days run, what they eat and how they spend their time. Support is planned with each person rather than written about them. We talk about what helps, what makes things harder, what early signs of difficulty look like and what someone wants us to do if they arise. We encourage independence wherever people want to build it, whether that is around cooking, budgeting, travel, work or study, and we give as much practical help as is genuinely needed and no more. We work closely with community mental health teams, GPs and therapists so that support is consistent, and we welcome families and advocates where residents want them involved. Being by the sea helps too, and we support people to get out and be part of the town. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.
