About Beaufort House
We are a residential care home in Burnham on Sea, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs assistance with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is needed, because what a person can still manage themselves is worth protecting. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows staff to reassure somebody who is frightened or cannot place where they are. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Being near the sea has its uses, and getting out for a walk or a change of view is part of ordinary life here when the weather allows. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round before deciding anything.
