About The Orchard
The Orchard is a residential care home in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. We support older people and younger adults, including adults who are autistic or have a learning disability, people living with a physical disability and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. Because the people who live here have very different needs and ages, we do not run the home to a single timetable. Some want structure and plenty of activity, others want quiet, privacy and their own routine. Our job is to make both possible under one roof, and to make sure nobody is overlooked because they are the least demanding. Practical support covers personal care, medication, meals, appointments and getting out locally. Alongside that we look at what someone wants to be able to do for themselves, and we build the support so those skills are used rather than taken over. Where someone communicates without speech, we learn how they communicate and we adapt. Relatives are welcome and we would always rather be told early when something feels wrong.
