About The Coach House

We are a residential home in Shrewsbury supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults and people with physical disabilities. What we are trying to run is a home rather than a service with people living in it. Everyone has their own room arranged how they like it, and the week is worked out between the people who live here and the staff supporting them: what is cooked, when the shopping happens, who wants to go out and where to. Those sound like small matters and they are most of what separates a home from somewhere a person is simply placed. Support is built around what each person wants to be able to do. For some that is a job, a college course or a regular volunteering day. For others it is getting out regularly, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, or doing more for themselves around the house. Where somebody needs help with personal care, mobility or health appointments, we give it without taking over more of the task than is necessary. Consistency counts for a great deal, particularly for autistic people, so we keep staffing as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for a place for yourself or a member of your family, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.
