About High Ridges
High Ridges is a residential care home in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, supporting adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays for people who need support for a shorter period. The people who live here call it home, and our job is to help each of them live the life they choose within it. Support is planned one person at a time. We help with personal care where it is wanted, with meals, medication and appointments, and with the practical business of running a home. Just as importantly, we support people to get out into Shrewsbury, to keep up interests and friendships and to stay in close contact with family. Communication and routine are at the centre of good support here. We take time to learn how each person prefers information to be given, how they tell us that something is wrong and which parts of the day need to stay the same. For residents with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how rooms are arranged. Where someone wants more independence, we work towards it at their pace rather than ours. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be judged on whether the people living at High Ridges feel genuinely at home and have a real say in their support.
