About Hartlands Residential Home
Hartlands Residential Home is a care home in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. We provide residential care for people living with dementia and for others who need support with daily life, and we offer respite stays for people recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Because so much of our work is dementia care, we have built the way we run the house around it. Surroundings stay familiar and uncluttered, routines stay steady, and we keep our team as settled as we can, because a face somebody recognises does more good than almost anything else we could offer. We learn each person's history properly, which is what allows us to make sense of what they are telling us rather than simply correcting them. When a resident becomes distressed, we look for what lies behind it, whether that is pain, noise, hunger, boredom, needing the lavatory or simply wanting reassurance, instead of treating the distress itself as the problem to be managed. People here still choose their own day. When to get up, what to eat, whether to join in or keep to their own room. Rooms hold their own furniture and photographs. We work with local GPs and community nurses, and we keep families closely informed, including when the news is hard. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Please come and look round.
