About Windermere
Windermere is a residential care home in Southport supporting adults, including younger adults, who need somewhere settled to live with the right help around them. We also offer respite stays for people who need support for a short period. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We try to run this place the way any household runs. People get up when they are ready, eat what they like, keep their own routines and have a proper say in decisions that affect them. Rooms belong to the people living in them, and we encourage everyone to fill theirs with their own furniture, pictures and possessions. Supporting younger adults means taking their plans seriously. Work, college, friendships, money, relationships and independence all matter, and our role is to help people move towards what they want rather than to keep them comfortable and occupied. Sometimes that means stepping back and letting someone try something, with a sensible plan if it does not go well. Our team stays with people through the difficult stretches as well as the good ones. We keep in close contact with families, social workers and health colleagues, and we are honest when we think an arrangement is not working. Respite stays can be a useful way to get to know us without committing to anything. If you would like to visit and see for yourself, please get in touch and we will arrange it.
