About Edge Hall Care Home
We are Edge Hall Care Home in Southport, in the borough of Sefton, a residential care home supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. We offer permanent places and respite stays. A home for a small number of people allows support to be individual rather than a compromise between competing demands. Staff here know everybody properly, which includes a great deal that never appears in a care plan, such as which noises are unbearable on a difficult day and which subject will always improve one. We treat autism as something that shapes how a person experiences the place they live rather than as a line at the top of a file. Predictability matters. The sensory environment matters. Being told what is going to happen and finding that it turns out to be true matters more than reassurance ever does, and when those things are wrong nothing else we do makes up for it. People here make their own choices and do as much for themselves as they can, with help offered rather than assumed. Respite guests visit beforehand where possible so that arriving is familiar. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
