About Connell Court
Connell Court is a residential care home in Southport, in the borough of Sefton. We look after older people, including adults with physical disabilities, and we take respite bookings for people who need a stay of a few weeks rather than a permanent place. We keep this a home rather than a facility. Rooms belong to the people in them, with their own furniture and pictures. The day runs at the pace of those living here, there is company and activity for anybody who wants it, and a quiet corner for anybody who does not. The food is meant to be enjoyed rather than got through. Where somebody has a physical disability, our aim is to support what they can still do for themselves rather than taking it over. That means equipment and layout that work with a person instead of against them, and staff who know when to help and when to wait. Independence lost through well meaning haste is very hard to recover. Our staff know the people living here, which is how a change in health gets noticed early and taken to the GP or district nurse before it becomes serious. Families are welcome whenever suits them and are part of how decisions get made. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Do ring if you would like to look round Connell Court.
