About Agnes House
Agnes House is a residential care home in Oldbury supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. We run this as a household rather than a service with bedrooms attached. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they spend in company. Some of the people living here have been with us a long time. Others arrive needing space and patience before they settle, and we give them both without treating a slow start as a problem. Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than only around risk. Cooking, shopping, managing money, using the bus, getting to college, work or activities, and keeping up with family and friends. Where somebody needs a great deal of help, we still look for what they can take on themselves. We pay attention to communication and to the environment. We learn how each person expresses themselves, including those who use little or no speech, and we adjust to them. Noise, lighting, predictability and somewhere quiet to retreat to all affect how a day turns out. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather be upfront about it than have you find out elsewhere. We know which areas were raised, work is under way, and we are happy to go through any of it. Please visit and ask us directly.
